Seth Rogovoy is the author of Within You Without You: Listening to George Harrison (Oxford University Press, 2024), Bob Dylan: Prophet Mystic Poet (Scribner, 2009), and The Essential Klezmer: A Music Lover’s Guide to Jewish Roots and Soul Music (Algonquin Books, 2000).
Rock critic Seth Rogovoy's new book, Within You Without You: Listening to George Harrison (Oxford U. Press), is a highly personal exploration of George Harrison’s essential contributions to the Beatles and the musical world at large. Through close examination of Harrison’s guitar playing and songwriting, as well as insights from expert observers including English rock singer-songwriter Wesley Stace aka John Wesley Harding and Robyn Hitchcock, Rogovoy explores how Harrison shaped the sound of The Beatles and carried that sound forward into his solo career. This book launch party is free and open to the public and will include a short reading and book-signing.
